A graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Sports Management and Communications from the College of Kinesiology, Shelby began her personal training career in 2001. Initially teaching group exercise at the University of Michigan, she became certified as a trainer in 2002 before moving to Chicago, where she spent six years training and teaching classes at Fitness Formula Clubs. Her specialties include functional and time-efficient high-intensity training geared toward losing body fat, adding lean muscle, and correcting postural imbalances. She also has extensive experience with sport-specific training—namely golf, skiing, and tennis—pre- and postnatal training, and injury rehabilitation, such as helping clients come back from joint injury. Shelby relocated to Charlotte from Chicago in 2008 and also works as a freelance health writer, with a focus on fitness, nutrition, and healthy living. She has been with My Fitness World since its grand opening in November 2011.
